The children were so engaged for such young ages. Their questions were very intelligent and we related “Officer Tony’s” lessons to the everyday life of a young child such as Fire Safety, and the importance of having a plan. We discussed Stranger Danger, but most importantly Water Safety. Having been a lifeguard, Water Safety is very important to teach young children since it’s the number one cause of accidental death among children 1 to 6 years of age.

It was a very exciting Fall, 2017 when I was invited to six Clifton Public Elementary Schools to do presentations as well as read my new Children’s Book “Officer Tony Says Be Careful” The schools involved were Clifton Public School #4, Clifton School #5, Clifton School #11 Clifton School #12, Clifton School #12 Annex and Clifton Public School #15. The children were so engaged with each lesson taught. Every page of “Officer Tony Says Be Careful” is filled with bright colorful full page illustrations that teach a very valuable lesson. The questions kept coming in and they were so insightful like “what if a stranger has a puppy” and if you’re walking on the sidewalk you have to watch your back. I learn something as well every time I teach the children, today I learned what a Fidget Spinner is.
We had a wonderful time reading “Officer Tony Says Be Careful” and learning all about Safety. Author Donna Fantacone read each page and taught valuable safety lessons. The children were very receptive and inquisitive and asked very intelligent questions. The book is intended to spark conversations that need to be discussed with young children. Paterson School #21 invited Donna Fantacone to come to the Library to read her new Children’s book “Officer Tony Says Be Careful”.
